Mi Chunmao was born in Baxian, Hebei Province, in 1938. He is now member of the Chinese Artists Association and council member of the Hebei Branch.
Mi developed a strong interest in drawing and sculpture when he was a child. In 1959, he learnt the technique of Chinese painting from teachers such as Sun Qifeng, Zhang Qiyi, Xiao Lang, Li Kunpu, Liang Qi, etc. He also studied coloured sculpture from Zhang Ming and sculpture technique from Wang Zhijiang. He gas gained a high reputation for realism and gracefulness in the circle of meticulous style painting in China. His favorite topics are small creatures such as kittens and puppies, which he portrays in a lifelike manner. His works have been published both at home and abroad and have been awarded many times in exhibitions. His books "How to Portray Small Creatures" and "Paintings by Mi Chunmao"was published. |
