Shen Dao-hong was born in Chengdu, Sichuan in 1947 and now resides in Singapore. Shen is a painter of Chengdu Painting College and is rated first-class painter of the nutlon.
Shen is a persistent, patient, and introspective man who loves solitude. He is also a man of different personalities with a consciousness for self-analysis. His pursuit for variety and true self led to his 20 years of experience as a rover who moved through a variety of jobs. This became his asset, inspiring him both in the arts and in life. After years of cultivation and consistent quest for improvement, Shen turns himself into one of the major artists of the end of the 20th century. Specializing in portraits, he also paints landscape and flower-and-bird. His virtuosity is apparent in his mastery of grand-scale composition and use of broad strokes. His use of middle brush-strokes is a sign of his introspective style, which displays both an inclination for abstract and an intense concern for the world. His subject matters include ancient and modern characters, both portrayed with elegance. He has been acclaimed as an artist who creates in a unique, solitary style. Shen has held one-man shows as well as joint exhibitions in various Asian places. Media throughout the world have reported extensively on his art and accomplishments, earning him recognition worldwide. Valued by many, his works can be found in various museums, organizations and exhibition halls in Asia. He has also published a number of painting albums.
