Wang Qingsheng was born in Zhunhai County, Hebei Province in 1932. He is now member of the Chinese Artists Association, member of the Standing Committee of Beijing Heavy Color Painting Society, and chief of the Flower-and-Bird Section of Beijing Painting Studio.
He started to learn Chinese paintings on his own in his early years. In 1961 he was demitted to Beijing Painting Studio, where he studied under famous painters Wang Xuetao, Wang Shensheng, Wu Jingting and Ma Jin. Gongbi flower-and-bird painting is his major profession. He also does landscapes. His painting style has been deeply influenced by Song Dynasty court painters but his artistic conception owes much to flower-and-bird painters in Ming Dynasty. These influences are combined with a strong feeling for life, a rich sense of composition as well as fresh and vivid coloring. A number of his works have been published and displayed at many major exhibitions at home and abroad. Some of his works are in the collection of museums.
